Nutrition Education Program is a 3 week program designed for NSW schools to educate children about the importance of nutrition for the human body.
Each week we spend one 40 minute lesson with the children and cover the following:

Week 1 – ABC Nutrition

Introduction for the students to Micronutrients; Vitamin A, Vitamin Bs, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, and Zinc. Discussion on the different foods where high amounts of these vitamins and minerals can be found, Explore the benefits and importance that micronutrients have in the human body, and discuss the problems that can occur if micronutrients aren’t consumed as part of a balanced diet.

Week 2 – MACRO Nutrition

Introduction to the Macronutrients; Protein, Carbohydrates & Fats, as well as the importance of Fibre and Water. Explore the benefits and importance that macronutrients have in the human body, and discuss the problems that can occur if macronutrients aren’t consumed as part of a balanced diet. Discuss how to make healthy choices in regards to fast food.

 

Week 3 – BODY Nutrition

The final week focuses on bacteria in the body, both good and bad. Introduction to prebiotic foods and probiotic foods for the digestive system. Discussion about healthy and unhealthy bowel movements. Focus on foods for quality gastrointestinal health, positive mental health and mood, Healthy choices in regards to added sugar and how food choices and regular exercise can promote well-being.
